Anyone who has been paying any sort of attention to the forums knows that a lot has been said about the 'state of IVR'.

If I didn't make it clear enough over our four/ five months it was on the air, the show was always open to suggestions and change if members called for it.

Well, since the show is on indefinite hiatus (at least until Mick returns), now would be a good time for people who never tuned in or thought it wasn't their cup-of-tea to let us know what future episodes of the show would have to do to get you listening. Pretty much any suggestions on improving the show will be listened to though.

The floor is open.

Sweet! Then can I suggest that anyone can waffle on about anything they want.
It would be just great to hear peoples voices and their views.

And again Swift, if it is too much (and I agree that it is alot of work) then if you show me the way, perhaps I can help, and I would be pleased to do so.

I listened to it in the beginning, and enjoyed whatever was spoken about because people just speaking about their thoughts about something we all knew about (i.e. the entire forum) was, what I thought, interesting.

The thing that stopped me however, was the length mostly. I'd want to listen, but streaming it took a while as well as downloading it so I'd grow impatient and forget about the whole thing. So like, a cutdown is what would probably get me into it again and anything else everyone suggests here.

Actually, I gotta agree with Lionheart, too. But, not because of his reasons.

I'm sure size is an issue for more than just myself due to network limitations. Plus, if you do it like that, if you have enough sections on the show you can split up, you can have weekly releases from ONE recording.

On a good side, Gentoo has unmasked, and keyworded the 64-bit Linux version of Skype (Open to testing) so, I MAY be able to join in after a 17MB download, depending on how much it kills my connection when using it.

I agreed about the length. I would be more willing to listen if it was more often but shorter in length. maybe focusing each episode one 1 thing, like do games one week, films another week, music a third week and something else the 4th week. Or lump 2 things together and do it each fortnight if weekly is too much. Then people can listen to the ones that interest them the most. If you got 2 sections together, try to let people know what point in the podcast that the second section starts so that people can go straight to that if they want to.

Also, it sounded very serious the first time I listened, dunno if it would be posible to lighten it up a bit when you are talking about specific subjects, but could be worth keeping in mind.

Yea, I think that the length of each podcast that's been made was a deterring factor.  It definitly did put me off from listening to the podcasts.  I think that, like Smurf said, if we divided things into sections for music, movies, and games.  People could more easily listen to what their interested to and not get scared off by the length of the podcasts.

I also thought that maybe an hour long show was a bit long....as fun as it was to record! ;)
I would really like to see the podcast coming back and I would love to be involved with it still.
I can't see that it would be too hard to cut each show to 30mins or so....

When people were saying how the podcast was too long I was a little confused. Other than file size issues, I thought people would have wanted more bang for their buck, so to speak.

But Sui's idea of dividing the one show up in different sections to be released every week sounds like a good one, especially if people want a more bite-size IVR. Of course the problem with that is that if we record it all it one session, information may become out of date by the time we put up that segment.

But on the other hand, if I'm not involved in all the sections that could mean less work for me.

That's given me something to think about, keep the ideas flowing people (especially those of what content you want to see/listen to).
